Vigorous construction demand anticipated in China and ASEAN

Infrastructure construction projects are being developed at a furious pace in Asian countries today, against the backdrop of economic growth and urbanization. Vigorous construction demand is anticipated in each country where the Kanamoto Group is developing bases.
An ambitious plan is being carried out in Yunnan Province, the point of contact between southern China and Southeast Asia. Kunming, the provincial capital of Yunnan Province, will become the hub of a network linking railways, roads and shipping channels. The plan for a 3,000km-long “Central Route” railway link from Kunming to Singapore is already being implemented. An agreement for the construction project in Laos has been signed, while construction in Thailand has already commenced. In addition to this route, there is also a concept for a “Western Route” connecting to Bangkok via Myanmar, and an “Eastern Route” that will pass through Vietnam and Cambodia, as China seeks to form an economic bloc that transcends national borders.
In addition, based on “10 major infrastructure projects” with a total budget equivalent to three trillion yen, China’s government is proceeding on large-scale infrastructure developments in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region costing between several billion to more than one hundred billion HK dollars, including the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, and development of the site of the old Kai Tak Airport.

Infrastructure construction in ASEAN countries is proceeding at a furious pace

In Singapore as well, work is progressing on a large-scale port construction project to concentrate container terminal in the western district, in addition to programs such as large-scale redevelopment of the North Region and development of the Marina South district based on the 10-15 year land development basic plan (Master Plan 2013) announced by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA). Similarly, the plan to extend the urban mass rapid transit (MRT) system and double the network from its present length to about 360km is advancing as well.
In addition to this, the construction markets in ASEAN nations remain brisk, including Indonesia, which is expected to undertake infrastructure investments worth 44 trillion yen over five years between 2015 and 2019, Vietnam, which will proceed with large-scale infrastructure developments such as the North-South Express Railway and Haiphong International Gateway Port, Thailand, which has allocated a budget of 100 billion US dollars to carry out infrastructure construction from 2014 to 2021, and the Philippines, which will proceed with a railway construction project in the capital of Manila and an international airport passenger terminal.
The Kanamoto Group will maintain and expand its existing subsidiaries in each country, demonstrate its distinctive characteristics in sectors such as ground improvement where the group possesses unique expertise, and work to further identify attractive projects overseas.
