Next Kanamoto

Kanamoto keeps moving forward.
Our steps are already taking us to the next stage.

As we execute our current long-term management plan, we continue to focus on Kanamoto's newest stage for achieving sustainable growth.

[Domestic development]

Along with our activities to assist the restoration and recovery of the Tohoku and Kanto areas devastated by the Great East Japan Earthquake and support the response to the Fukushima nuclear accident, within Japan we are also focusing our efforts on infrastructure maintenance and upgrade activities to prevent and mitigate disasters in the future. Assuring the safety of the approximately 670,000 bridges in use throughout Japan can be said to be a particularly urgent issue. By lending a helping hand with bridge inspection and maintenance works, Kanamoto is doing its part to maintain safety in Japan.
What's more, we're also making an effort to broaden our operating base in order to support large projects in the future. One such project is the works being planned to open and extend Shinkansen lines in Hokkaido, Hokuriku, Kyushu and other areas, and Kanamoto is seeking to further expand its market share by participating in these projects.

[Overseas development]

Furthermore, in our overseas operations, which Kanamoto has positioned as an engine for medium to long-term growth, we are meeting the needs presented by vigorous demand in mainland China, Hong Kong and Singapore, where full-scale work on subways, expressways and other large-scale public works projects has begun. At the same time we are also undertaking development in the remarkably developing ASEAN member states. In used construction equipment sales as well, Kanamoto has established a commensurate position in the used construction equipment market because of its thorough attention to quality through careful maintenance and repairs. Because the trust fostered by Kanamoto's used construction equipment will also contribute greatly to our overseas business development in the future, we will sell these products by working to improve quality even more.

Kanamoto's current long-term management plan <FY2010-FY2014>

Overseas business

● Successive large-scale projects ordered in mainland China, Hong Kong and Singapore
● Growing demand for construction equipment as infrastructure construction and other projects move forward in remarkably developing ASEAN countries

chart In addition to specialized equipment for engineering works such as the shield tunneling method, which is one of Kanamoto's strengths, there is also vigorous demand for equipment such as machines for high-level work.

Disaster relief works and maintenance business

● By the end of March 2014: Final disposal of disaster wastes left behind in the three prefectures in Tohoku by the Great East Japan Earthquake *1
● 2015-2016: Restoration of the coastal levees in Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima that were fully or partially destroyed by the Great East Japan Earthquake *2

chart Many specialized agencies such as the Science Council of Japan predict that an earthquake in the Tokai, Tonankai or Nankai area or an earthquake with its epicenter directly beneath Tokyo will occur sometime in the first half of this century. Formulation of disaster prevention and disaster mitigation plans is required, with maintenance of bridges and other infrastructure being an especially urgent need.
